Menlo Park Mascot Rebrand
Logo redesign for the David Douglas School District
Working with administrators at Menlo Park Elementary, part of the David Douglas School District, I led a school-wide mascot rebrand grounded in student voice. Rather than designing in a vacuum, I put the decision to the students themselves — a school-wide vote landed on Pumas as the new mascot. From there, I asked students to draw their own interpretations of a puma, and studied dozens of their sketches to understand what felt authentic and appealing to them. That research shaped the final logo: a puma with a relaxed, approachable expression — friendly and non-intimidating, fitting for an elementary-age audience — that reflected what the students themselves had drawn.
